Pokémon Phantasmal Flames Set Revealed
The Pokemon TCG is heating up with the official reveal of Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames, the second expansion in the Mega Evolution era. Headlined by the iconic Mega Charizard X ex — the blue and black Dragon-type form — this set is poised to be one of the most sought-after releases of 2025. The English version launches on November 14, 2025.
Mega Charizard X ex Takes Center Stage
The star of Phantasmal Flames is Mega Charizard X ex, a powerhouse card boasting 360 HP. Its signature move, Inferno X, deals 90 damage for each Fire Energy you discard from among your Pokemon, with no cap on damage. The Special Illustration Rare version has already become a legendary chase card with secondary market values reaching $700 and above.
Set Size and Card Highlights
Phantasmal Flames is the smallest regular English set in years, containing just 94 cards in the main set before secret rares, climbing to approximately 130 cards total. The set features six Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, 13 Illustration Rares, 17 Ultra Rares, and five Special Illustration Rares. It also introduces the new Mega Attack Rare card type with cross-language attack names.
